Donald Trump has been elected President of the United States and J.D. Vance as Vice President after winning 277 electoral votes in the 2024 election. This win marks the beginning of Trump’s second stint in the White House, after a failed run for re-election in 2020. It is the first time a president had two unconsecutive terms since Grover Cleveland in 1893.
Trump won the swing states Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, helping him reach the magic number of 270 electoral votes to win. He also won the popular vote, with 71,627,720 votes according to the AP.
It was late when Trump’s win was declared by national news outlets like CNN, Fox News, and the AP. Supporters of the candidate rejoiced as their party claimed victory.
In his victory speech, Trump thanked his supporters saying, “We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible,” He also added that the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement is “the greatest political movement of all time.”
As for Harris, her concession speech will be delivered on the evening of November 6th.
